Innovia Launch New Cosmetic Overwrap Film

Innovia Films is launching a new transparent overwrap film, Propafilm™ OFR.  It has been specifically designed for the overwrapping of perfume and cosmetic boxes.  The film’s unique formulation delivers a film with scratch and alcohol resistance alongside outstanding overwrapping machine performance.  This innovative film is chlorine (PVdC) free, so is ‘recycle ready’, or recyclable in countries which have the infrastructure to recycle polypropylene films. 

The fact that this film has outstanding scratch and scuff resistance, means wrapped cosmetic boxes stay in pristine condition through the whole supply chain.  This coupled with OFR’s high gloss and clarity means wrapped boxes will stand out on the shelf.  

Alasdair McEwen, Global Product Manager Packaging, Innovia Films explains “The cosmetic market is one of the most demanding in terms product quality and brand image.  Our new film has excellent scratch resistance and so allows brands to continue to package their products to the same high standards, but with a film that does not contain PVdC and is therefore designed for recycling.” 

McEwen continues, “It’s also important to take into account the Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) of a packaging film.  Propafilm™ OFR excels versus the traditional chlorine containing coated films that are used in this market, having a much lower environmental impact”.
